 Global Learning Courses

The best way to describe global learning courses is as an approach to learning about international development through recognizing the importance of linking people’s lives throughout the world. These courses promote critical examination of global issues and an awareness of the impact that individuals can have on them.

Global learning courses have heightened my awareness about the developing world, the causes of poverty and what can be done to reduce it. They have propelled me from a charity mentality to a social justice mentality and enhanced my skills to interpret that knowledge to make better judgments about global poverty have been well developed. I have had the opportunity to become more familiar with the concepts of interdependence, development, globalization, and sustainability, and feel better prepared to understand my role in a globally interdependent world and how to explore strategies to make it more just and sustainable.

The knowledge I have acquired will help me to consider the relative merits of different approaches to reducing global poverty and draw conclusions about the causes of global poverty and how it can be addressed.
